Court extends judicial custody of Raju and others

Ramalinga RajuThe sixth additional chief metropolitan magistrate, hearing fraud case of beleaguered Satyam Computers, has extended judicial custody of Ramalinga Raju and three other, the main accused involved in the largest ever corporate audit scam in the country.

They have been booked under cheating, criminal conspiracy, falsification of records and forgery in Rs 70 billion Satyam fraud case.

The accused, Ramalinga Raju, his brother and former managing director B Rama Raju and former chief financial officer (CFO) Vadlamani Srinivas are lodged at Chanchalguda central jail. They were not produced physically before the court and court's proceeding was done through video linkage between the court and the jail.

The court also extended judicial custody of the general manager of SRSR Advisory Services, D Gopalakrishnam Raju. He was produced before the court by Crime Investigation Department (CID), the agency investigating the Satyam fraud case. The police sources said that he tried to destroy some important documents and can provide more information regarding auditing fraud.

Meanwhile, Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) also demanded judicial custody of Ramalinga Raju and Srinivas by filing a fresh petition in the court.
