Toyota Kirloskar sales declines 4.3% in July

ToyotaNew Delhi: Toyota Kirloskar Motor on Friday reported a 4.30 percent decline in total sales at 13,847 units in July 2014.

The company had sold 14,470 units in the corresponding month of previous year, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) said in a statement.

In the domestic market, TKM sold 11,921 units in July 2014, up 3.52 percent as compared to 11,515 units in July 2013.

During the month, the company exported 1,926 units of Etios.

Only 900 units of the 'Etios Xclusive' limited edition, which comes with both petrol and diesel engines, would be on sale, Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) said in a statement.

The petrol variant of the model is priced at Rs 5.98 lakh while the diesel version of the car would retail at Rs 7.10 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).

Toyota India to recall 44,989 units of InnovaBangalore, April 9 - Indo-Japanese joint venture Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) Wednesday said it is recalling 44,989 units of the multi-utility vehicle Innova manufactured between February 2005 and December 2008.

According to the company, the recall has been mandated due to an error discovered in the spiral cable mounted on the steering wheel.

"The suspended employees are all members of the union. The lockout was declared more because of indiscipline than on wage hike demand though it all began with that," Toyota Kirloskar Motor Ltd (TKM) spokesperson told IANS here Thursday.

"We are open to reduce our wage hike demand to Rs. 4,000 per month from Rs. 8,000 asked earlier for fiscal 2013-14 in view of the increase in cost of living and more workload, as we want management to lift lockout immediately," Toyota Kirloskar Motor Ltd Union president Prasanna Kumar told IANS here Tuesday.

In a statement, the company said it sold 10,100 units last month in the domestic market as compared to 12,756 units sold in February 2013.

Toyota rolls out hybrid sedan from India plant

toyota-camry-hybridBangalore, Aug 28 : Japanese auto joint venture Toyota Kirloskar Motor Wednesday rolled out a new Camry hybrid sedan from its Bidadi plant, about 40 km from here.

"The indigenous version of Camry sedan makes India the ninth country for us to manufacture hybrid vehicles. As a pioneer in hybrid technology, we have sold around five million vehicles the world over," Toyota chief executive Hiroshi Nakagawa said on the occasion.

The hybrid version has 2.5 litre belt-less petrol engine with an electric motor and electronically controlled continuous variable transmission (E-CVT).

In a statement, the company said it sold 11,515 units in India as against 14,575 units sold in July 2012.

Last month, the company exported 2,955 units of Etios series.

"Market continues to be sluggish and it seems that we are heading for tougher times in view of the current market outlook," Sandeep Singh, deputy managing director and chief operating officer - marketing and commercial, was quoted as saying in the statement. (IANS)

Toyota-KirloskarChennai, June 1 : Japanese-Indian car maker Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt Ltd domestic sales went down by 35 percent last month as compared to the sales logged in May 2012.

In a statement issued Saturday, the company said it sold 10,023 units in the domestic market last month as compared to 15,501 in the corresponding month in 2012.

Taking into account exports of 2,479 units of Etios series to South Africa in May, the total sales was 12,502 units, the company said.

Taking into account exports of 1,449 units last month, the company's total sales stand at 10,456 units - less than what it sold during the corresponding month in 2012.

"The market continues to be sluggish and is expected to take some time to revive. We have taken measures to reduce inventory, both at our and at the dealers' end," Sandeep Singh, deputy managing director and chief operating officer (marketing and commercial), was quoted as saying in a company statement.
