Japanese auto makers are planning to recall three million vehicles worldwide due to an issue with the airbags on the passenger side.

It is believed that the inflator of airbags may burst and send various plastic pieces flying in the vehicles. Honda is planning to recall 1.1 million vehicles while Toyota is recalling 1.7 million vehicles. Out of the total, Honda will recall more than 107,000 in Canada and Toyota will recall about 580,000 in North America. Nissan recalled 480,000 vehicles around the world including about 137,000 of them in Japan.

Beijing, March 17 : Japanese automaker Toyota will recall around 4,400 units of its FJ Cruiser cars in China over seat-belt flaws, China's consumer quality watchdog said.

The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said that Toyota China will recall imported cars produced between December 2007 and March 2013, Xinhua reported.

Toyota is working on the solution to the flaw and will release improvement methods before April 15, the administration said.

In a announcement which underscores Toyota's plans to build on the success of the 2013 Toyota Highlander, which Consumer Reports recently names a s top pick, the company recently said that it intends unveiling the "all-new" 2014 Highlander at the New York International Auto Show scheduled to be held later this month.

Revealing in a rather brief announcement that it is giving Highlander an update for 2014, Toyota said that it will debut the 2014 Highlander at the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan on March 27.

Beijing, Jan 31 : Japanese automaker Toyota will recall 22,869 vehicles exported to China over defects in the vehicles'' windshield wipers, according to China''s consumer quality watchdog.

The company has decided to recall some of its exported Lexus IS sedans produced between January 2006 and September 2011, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) said in a statement on its website.

Under certain weather conditions, including snow, the front windshield wipers of the recalled models may not work properly due to a clamp nut defect, the AQSIQ said.

Japanese Auto maker, Toyota Motor Corp has once again emerged as the largest auto seller in the world in 2011 with total sales of 9.75 million vehicles around the world.

Toyota reported records sales during the year and surpassed rivals like General Motors and Volkswagen to regain its position as the top selling automaker in the world. The company said that its total group-wide sales increased 22.6 per cent to 9.75 million, which is a new record in the company's 75 years of history.

Washington, Dec 27 : Japanese automaker Toyota has said that the firm has reached a settlement worth over 1 billion dollars in a case involving hundreds of lawsuits over acceleration problems in its vehicles.

The company said in a statement that the deal would resolve cases involving motorists who complained that the value of their vehicles was adversely affected by previous recalls stemming from sudden acceleration problems.

Lawyer Steve Berman, a plaintiffs'' attorney, described it as the largest settlement in U. S. history involving automobile defects, CBS News reports.

Tokyo, Dec 26 : Toyota Motor Corp. said Wednesday that it expects to achieve 9.9 million global auto sales in 2013, up 2 percent from the figure expected this year.

The company also said that it plans to produce 9.94 million units globally next year, almost the same level as in 2012.

The figures were both group-wide which include sales and outputs at Daihatsu Moto Co. and Hino Motors Ltd.

Toyota expects its global production under the Toyota and Lexus brands only to hit 8.7 million units in 2013, nearly the same as the 8.74 million vehicles it sets for 2012, the automaker said.

Despite new launches and steep discounts, Indian carmakers suffered a decline of 8.25 per cent in domestic car sales in November.

Maruti Suzuki, the biggest car manufacturer of India, launched its Alto 800; while Chevrolet, Ford, Toyota and Volkswagen launched refreshes and variants of their various models just ahead of the festive season of Diwali. They also tried to allure customers with offers of 5-10 per cent discounts on most models. But, all these efforts failed to bring cheers for Indian carmakers.

Leading automakers in the country have indicated that the prices of several car models might be increased from January due to higher costs and pressure on margins in the industry.

Japanese automaker, Toyota Motor Corp is planning to recall as many as 7.4 million vehicles worldwide due to an issue relating to malfunctioning power window switches.

New Delhi, Sep 1 - Japanese automobile major Toyota's Indian subsidiary Toyota Kirloskar Motor Thursday reported an increase of 84 percent in its sales for August at 11,693 units as compared to 6,361 units in the like period last fiscal.

"The growth is primarily led by our flagship models Innova, Etios and Etios Liva," said Toyota Kirloskar Motor deputy managing director-marketing Sandeep Singh.
