Honda, Toyota to recall millions of vehicles worldwideJapanese auto makers are planning to recall three million vehicles worldwide due to an issue with the airbags on the passenger side.

It is believed that the inflator of airbags may burst and send various plastic pieces flying in the vehicles. Honda is planning to recall 1.1 million vehicles while Toyota is recalling 1.7 million vehicles. Out of the total, Honda will recall more than 107,000 in Canada and Toyota will recall about 580,000 in North America. Nissan recalled 480,000 vehicles around the world including about 137,000 of them in Japan.

The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said that Toyota China will recall imported cars produced between December 2007 and March 2013, Xinhua reported.

Toyota is working on the solution to the flaw and will release improvement methods before April 15, the administration said.

ToyotaBeijing, Jan 31 : Japanese automaker Toyota will recall 22,869 vehicles exported to China over defects in the vehicles'' windshield wipers, according to China''s consumer quality watchdog.

The company has decided to recall some of its exported Lexus IS sedans produced between January 2006 and September 2011, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) said in a statement on its website.

Under certain weather conditions, including snow, the front windshield wipers of the recalled models may not work properly due to a clamp nut defect, the AQSIQ said.

ToyotaWashington, Dec 27 : Japanese automaker Toyota has said that the firm has reached a settlement worth over 1 billion dollars in a case involving hundreds of lawsuits over acceleration problems in its vehicles.

The company said in a statement that the deal would resolve cases involving motorists who complained that the value of their vehicles was adversely affected by previous recalls stemming from sudden acceleration problems.

Lawyer Steve Berman, a plaintiffs'' attorney, described it as the largest settlement in U. S. history involving automobile defects, CBS News reports.


Toyota eyes 9.9 mln global auto sales in 2013

Toyota-Motor-Corp_Tokyo, Dec 26 : Toyota Motor Corp. said Wednesday that it expects to achieve 9.9 million global auto sales in 2013, up 2 percent from the figure expected this year.

The company also said that it plans to produce 9.94 million units globally next year, almost the same level as in 2012.

The figures were both group-wide which include sales and outputs at Daihatsu Moto Co. and Hino Motors Ltd.

Toyota expects its global production under the Toyota and Lexus brands only to hit 8.7 million units in 2013, nearly the same as the 8.74 million vehicles it sets for 2012, the automaker said.
