'Comeback' Pattinson left out from one-day Prime Minister's XI side against England
Sydney, Jan 11 - Comeback Australian pacer has reportedly been left out from Australia's Prime Minister XI to take on England in the opening match of the limited-overs series at the MCG on Sunday.
Pattinson has been in impressive form in the Big Bash League since returning to bowling from a stress fracture in his back, sustained in June during the tour of England.
According to News. com. au, the national selectors have also opted to leave batsman Shaun Marsh out of the squad, while all-rounder Mitchell Johnson will be rested, adding that in their places, Australia will use in-form Test batsman David Warner and Aaron Finch to open the batting, with Shane Watson to slot in at No. 3.
The home side heads into the series off the back of the Ashes whitewash, plus their 2-1 ODI series victory against England in September, although captain Michael Clarke has warned against complacency, saying that as an one-day unit, they are aware that they are not the number one team in the world at this stage, which is their ultimate goal.
Stating that it is easy to take the foot off the pedal with their recent Test wins, Clarke also said that England has a very good one-day team, adding that they do not expect that because the result was five-nil in the Test series, that the one-day result will be the same. (ANI)
