Colorado woman, accused of participating in a global terror plot, keeps silence at her arraignment Officials have said that a Colorado woman accused of participating in a global terror plot was silent at her arraignment in a federal court in Philadelphia on Wednesday.

Philly. com has reported that Jamie Paulin-Ramirez, 31, was ordered detained for trial by a U. S. magistrate during the hearing in which she shook her head from side to side to indicate her plea of not guilty, declining to speak.

The news Web site further said that Defense attorney Jeremy Ibrahim said Paulin-Ramirez's silence in U. S. District Court was an attempt to keep evidence -- specifically her voice -- out of the hands of prosecutors.

In an indictment issued last week, the U. S. Justice Department accused Paulin-Ramirez and Colleen R. LaRose, the 46-year-old Pennsylvania woman also known as "Jihad Jane" and "Fatima LaRose," of conspiring to provide material support to terrorists.

Authorities have said that federal prosecutors allege the women traveled to Europe last year to take part in and support violent jihad, or holy war.

Ramirez was arrested Friday in Philadelphia after voluntarily flying to the United States from abroad, said the Justice Department.

Innocence was pleaded by LaRose to terrorism charges in March. (With Inputs from Agencies)
