Codemasters might close down Guildford studio

Codemasters might close down Guildford studioCodemasters, the team behind the recently launched shooter game, Bodycount, might close down their Guildford studio sometime next month.

The company is planning close down the studio where the shooter was developed as part of its broader strategy. If the proposed close down goes ahead, it will affect 66 Guildford studio personnel. Company officials are currently holding a 30-day bankruptcy consultation.

The proposed closure comes just two weeks after the game's August 30th release date. The game had received several negative reviews and it was also marred by fair share of development problems. The game faced unscheduled delay and its creative staff had left the company.

The official closing down of the studio is part of a newly proposed creative direction for the Codemasters. The team now is aiming to focus mainly on the racing genre. It ha behind successful titles such as F1, Dirt and Grid series.
