Cisco signs MoU with Karnataka for Bangalore's roadmap3
The Karnataka government and the US-based networking technologies giant Cisco Systems has signed a Memorandum of Understanding, endorsed by Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and Cisco chief executive John Chambers, to develop Bangalore as most sustainable place in terms of public safety, transportation, buildings, energy, health care and education.
Mr. Chambers launched global 'Intelligent Urbanisation' initiative aimed to offer quality services to citizens by making the system efficient and well planned. He said, "Bringing together a broad portfolio of products, services, partners and solutions across Cisco, the initiative is initially focused on intelligent, sustainable solutions for public safety and security, transportation, buildings, energy, health care and education."
Cisco would provide assistance to state transport department and police in order to enhance public safety at various important terminal of city, under threat from terrorist and anti-social elements. The firm would spend 1.16 billion for developing globalization centre in the city, offering automatic lightening system and solar light day harvesting.
Mr. Chambers said that developing countries such as India would soon come out of recession and slowdown. Commenting on country's GDP projections, he said, "The
7.1-per cent GDP growth stated by Indian officials may not be far off the mark, from what I could see here in the past few days. You have the advantages of a large domestic market and consumption, to sustain your economy and look for even aggressive growth."
