Cherie Blair set to earn millions from her memoirs
London, Sept 20 : Cherie Blair is now cashing in on life at 10 Downing Street by signing a 1.5 million pounds deal with publishers Little, Brown for her memoirs.
The tome is set to hit bookstands in October next year, and Little, Brown described it as a ‘warm and intimate’.
“(It’s a) warm, intimate and often very funny portrait of a family living in extraordinary circumstances,” The Sun quoted the publisher, as saying.
Titled Cherie Blair: The Autobiography, the tome will follow Cherie Blair’s life from a working class childhood in Liverpool to her position as a leading barrister and a PM's wife.
However, not all are happy with Cherie’s decision, with one Labour official even saying: "Two words strike dread into me, 'Cherie' and 'book.'"
Meanwhile the couple’s biographer wrote in the Daily Mail that Cherie will most probably give went to her bitter feelings towards current PM Gordon Brown.
“As the biographer of Tony and Cherie, I fully expect her to let Gordon Brown have it with both barrels. I'm sure we will learn the details of the brazen treachery and duplicity she has thus far only accused Mr Brown of in private,” wrote Paul Scott.
Another target is most likely to be the Royal family.
“Relations between the antimonarchist Cherie (during her years in Downing Street she steadfastly refused to curtsey to the Queen and yawned openly as Her Majesty's guest at the Highland Games) and the Royal Family were, at best, chilly,” Scott writes.
“The Queen thought her to be hectoring and aloof, and Prince Philip could barely bring himself to speak to her on the Blairs' miserable annual visits to Balmoral.
“Then there is Princess Anne, whom Cherie called 'that bitch' after the two women bumped into each other at a Buckingham Palace party,” he adds.
It was unclear whether Cherie will need official clearance for her book, but a spokeswoman for Little, Brown said: “Any procedure that needs to be followed will be followed.” (With inputs from ANI)
