Certain Smartphones Might Soon be Getting 10.1 Flash Support Soon
While Apple does not seem to see the need to add support for Adobe Systems' Flash multimedia software to a smartphone, there are some other major manufacturers who certainly do, and these manufacturers are now looking to release the required software updates soon.
Palm and Motorola are among the mobile handset makers who are positive that users want to gain access to a wider range of web content from their phones, and both the firms are planning to add Flash support to their smartphones real soon, as was confirmed by executives at the International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
The Flash 10.1 version was announced by Adobe last year, and the company had shared that handsets from as many as 19 manufacturers would ship with the software pre-loaded, starting mid-
2010.
On Wednesday, Motorola's Backflip Android device was unveiled at the CES by Sanjay Jha, the CEO of Motorola's handset business, and at the same time, he had announced that the company was in the process of readying a software update that would include Flash 10.1 support.
Earlier the week, Adobe had shared that it is working in association with Google to fit the new Nexus One with Flash 10.1 support.
