With the aim of hooking laptop users of small and medium-size companies, the Palo Alto, California-based Hewlett-Packard (HP) has launched the ProBook s-series - a new line of its low-priced business notebooks, with fresh features. The ProBook substitutes HP’s Compaq line, though the company will continue with the Compaq name a master brand name in its other PCs.

According to BusinessWeek, the Verizon-apple partnership is in the offing; with rumors abound that Verizon Wireless is working out a deal with Apple Inc for the distribution of two new devices similar to the IPhone.

Unnamed sources say that Apple CEO, Steve Jobs has been involved in the talks with Verizon, that have been on for the past six months; and that Apple is supposedly through with the creation of the prototypes of the proposed devices.

Indian software services firm Tech Mahindra on Monday announced net profit of Rs 221.39 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2009 against a net loss of Rs 207.07 crore reported during the corresponding quarter in 2008.

However, company's total income for the quarter ended March 31, 2009 has decreased to Rs 1,019.31 crore from Rs 1,026.29 crore in the year-ago quarter.

For the year ended March 31, 2009, the company reported 188% surge in its net profit of Rs 986.65 crore against Rs 342.11 crore shown in 2008.
