Gemini Communication to demerge its system integration business

Gemini CommunicationThe Chennai-based networking solutions provider Gemini Communication plans to demerge its system integration business comprising enterprise convergence group, wireless and telecom and 4S divisions to a separate company.

However, the company will retain the technical services division to the telecom sector; PointRed Telecom and radio frequency identification (RFID) businesses.

It may be noted that the company's board has proposed to make a preferential allotment of up to 97,18,000 warrants with option to convert them into 97,18,000 equity shares for working capital requirement.

Sun balks at IBM takeover price, conditions; IBM retracts offer New York - IBM's takeover bid for Sun Microsystems collapsed over the weekend on disagreements over price and conditions of the deal, Bloomberg financial news agency reported Monday.

After Sun's board broke off the talks, IBM withdrew its offer, according to an unnamed person close to the deal cited by Bloomberg.

Sun balked not only over the price, but also over the absence of guarantees that the deal would go forward even if there were delays such as an antitrust review, the source said.

HCL-Xerox sign six-year transformation deal; HCL shares soar 8.18%

HCL-Xerox The bigwig information technology service provider HCL Technologies has signed a $100 million six-year transformation deal with document management firm, Xerox Corporation, for the outsourcing of data-center services. The two companies already entered into a partnership in November, according to which HCL would facilitate companies in the incorporation of Xerox's manage print services into their systems.
