Buildings in eastern Papua New Guinea shook by 6.4-magnitude quake
It has been informed by officials that a 6.4-magnitude earthquake shook buildings in eastern Papua New Guinea Sunday but caused no damage or injuries and posed no tsunami threat.
The U. S. Geological survey has said that the quake, whose epicenter was 20 miles east of Lae, struck at 9:15 a. m. on Sunday.
The Malaysia Star has reported that the National Disaster Center in Guinea in Lae said no buildings collapsed after the quake shook some of them.
The quake posed no threat of a tsunami, the Malaysian Meteorological Department, said.
A 6.5-magnitude quake struck Feb. 1, 29 miles under the sea of the west coast of Bougainville Island, Papua New Guinea. (With Inputs from Agencies)
