British people spend almost a day per month online
According to a recent survey on habits of British internet users, it has been found that they are spending 65% more time on the internet than three years before. This survey was conducted by UK Online Measurement Company (UKOM).
It has informed that an average surfer spends 22 hours and 15 minutes on internet per month in UK. Nearly a quarter of users’ time online is spent on social networks sites and blogs.
The Instant Messaging (IM) has been a major rival of the social networks. Before three years 14% of the online time was spent on IM but now that percentage has decreased to just 5%.
E-mail usage has also changed as users are spending more time on social networks. Three years before, people were spending their 6.5% of online time on e-mail and now it has increased to 7.2%.
Now social networking, communication and playing games are the most preferable activities of people over internet. A spokesman of UKOM, Mr. Alex has said that the above activities are the base of internet on which the web exists. Online news reading has also gained a growth in percentage time spending by 2.8% as compared to 1.5% three years ago.
