Bolt signals world championships intent with victory in Ostrava
Ostrava, Czech Republic - World record holder Usain Bolt of Jamaica recorded his first sub-10 second time of the season in the 100 metres on his way to victory Wednesday at the Golden Spike meet in Ostrava.
The three-time Olympic champion claimed victory in a time of 9.77 seconds, just eight hundredths of second slower than the world record time of 9.69 he set on his way to taking gold at last summer's Beijing Games.
Great Britain's Craig Pickering finished a distant second in 10.08 seconds. The win shows that Bolt is in top form ahead of the World Athletics Championships, which take place in Berlin August 15-23.(dpa)
