Blackstone to invest $300 million in Moser BaerIndian unlisted energy firm, Moser Baer is going to see an investment of $300 million from one of world's largest private equity firm, Blackstone Group. Through this Blackstone is going to buy minority stake in Moser Baer and will have a strong holding on its current projects.

The information was given by the India Chief of Blackstone, Akhil Gupta while talking to media.

He said that the two parties are having active dialogues and the group is also looking at other power players as well.

Blackstone has currently got the capacity to invest up to $1 billion in India's power sector within the next 3-5 years. And with this investment, it is expecting to raise $2-3 billion in the next five years time.

As per the details given, Blackstone has also invested $1.25 billion in 12 different deals in the last five years within India. Out of this, $360 million has gone to power sector alone.

They are looking at this sector since there is a large demand and supply gap and newer opportunities are coming up.

Moser Baer, on the other hand, needs the money to spend on building 500 mw power projects.
