BJP rakes-up Ayodhya issue whenever election comes: Lalu
New Delhi, Feb. 9 : RJD chief and Union Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav on Monday accused the BJP of raking up the Ayodhya issue whenever election are around the corner.
"BJP rakes up the temple issue whenever election comes but the country has recognized it now. They have nothing to do with Ram or Krishna. They are actually humiliating the name of Ram for the sake of the chair. They should seek public apology for it," Lalu told reporters here.
"Our Hindu brothers did not like these things and had hence dethroned BJP earlier," Lalu added.
Lalu also objected to BJP party chief Rajnath Singh's statement over Babri Masjid, saying, BJP could not make tall claims openly when the matter was still pending in court.
"The Babri mosque issue has to be decided by the court. How can they make such a comment when the issue is already pending before the court? This is highly objectionable, he said alleging that the BJP wants to set the country on fire.
Earlier, Rajnath Singh had declared BJP''s commitment to build a magnificent Ram temple in Ayodhya at the BJP''s National Council meeting in Nagpur.
Separately, Advani had said," We had never left Ram."
Lashing out at the BJP for the statements, the RJD leader quoted a proverb saying BJP''s philosophy is "Munh me Ram, bagal me chhuri, mauka pa kar katega muri (Ram''s name on the tongue hiding a knife in the side, will slit throat on getting the first chance."
The RJD leader also cast attacks on the JD-U leaders Nitish Kumar and Sharad Yadav.
"Sharad and Nitish, who are acting as proposers for making Advani the Prime Minister should either ask BJP leaders to seek apology or part ways from NDA," he said.
Countering JD-U's statement that their agenda was different from BJP's agenda, Lalu said, "Statements that they will not support BJP''s temple stand does not make any sense. If they are secular, they should show it to people. JD-U needs to tell BJP that it would part ways from the saffron party if they speak like this, and they need to take a drastic step, a decision," Lalu said. (ANI)
