Biggest scientific innovation achieved by Scientists at the National Immunology Institute, New Delhi, headed by its director Dr Avadhesha Surolia who claims to discovered insulin which could maintain the normal sugar levels for over 120 days.

It is good news for diabetic patients, as with the discovery of this medicine patients will get relieved from their daily shots of insulin.

At present, insulin injected into the diabetic patient's body can maintain the normal sugar levels up to 18 hrs and thus lead to a daily dose of insulin injection to sustain the sugar levels. But with this invention patients need to take insulin injections once in every four months.

Dr Surolia explained that the new insulin is based on new principles of 'protein folding' and is capable of producing insulin molecules in a controlled and sustained manner for over 120 days.

It is said that product has been sent to US based company for further clinical trials and it will be launched in the market in coming six years. The team of scientists had already patented the technology.

Dr Surolia also said that this is one of the biggest scientific innovation made by government owned research laboratory and it is a multi-million dollar technology transfer agreement with royalties after the product hits the market.

India will welcome the medicine with whole heart because India is known as the diabetes capital of the world. The medicine has a wide market in India as it is estimated that around 50 million people suffered from diabetes in India.
