Authorities arrest eight drink/drug drivers
Authorities have arrested a total of eight drivers for drink/drug driving offences in Tayside between December 17 and December 24.
The eight arrests were made during the third week of the Festive Drink/Drugs Driving campaign. Seven drivers were arrested for drunken driving offenses while one was arrested for driving whilst impaired by drugs. All the drivers were aged between 26 and 60-years-old and one of the drivers was a woman.
Of the eight drivers arrested, three drivers were arrested after they were involved in road traffic collisions. Reports show that none of these accidents resulted in serious injuries to the arrested drivers of others. Concerned members of the community helped the police detect irresponsible drivers.
Half of the drivers found committing drink/drug driving offences were arrested after calls and information from the members of the pubic, who were at risk because of the behavior of the motorist. Data has shown that 102 drivers have been detected speeding, 45 drivers have been reported for committing mobile phone offences and 44 drivers and five passengers were found to be travelling without seat belts.
