Australia takes lead on first day of Leeds test

England AustraliaAustralian team has taken lead of 94 runs with six wickets in the hands at the end of first day of the fourth test match of the Ashes test series against England at Leeds on Friday. Australian team's score stood at 196 runs for loss of 4 wickets at the close of play.

Earlier in the day, England batsmen were unable to resist against the pace attack of the Australian bowlers as they returned to pavilion for just 102 runs on the board in 36.1 overs. P Siddle was most successful bowler for Australia who took a five wickets haul.

Australia also got to a bad start as they lost the wicket of opener S Katich (0) in second over of the match. But after that R Ponting (78) and S Watson (51) put together 119 runs for the second wicket to help Australia to overcome from early loss of wicket.

M Clarke (34 not out) and M North (7 not out) were present at the crease at the close of play. S Broad picked up two wickets for 29 runs in his 11 overs.
