Los Angeles  - Singer Ashlee Simpson-Wentz has given birth to a baby boy, and in true celebrity tradition has bestowed the newborn with a highly unconventional name.

Bronx Mowgli Wentz is the first child for Simpson-Wentz, 24, and her rock star husband Pete Wentz of the Fall Out Boys. The baby was born late Thursday at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Centre in Los Angeles.

The couple married in May, about a month after announcing the pregnancy. (dpa)
