Apple's top-management shakeup indicates CEO Tim Cook is ‘in charge’

Apple's top-management shakeup indicates CEO Tim Cook is ‘in charge’With Apple having recently announced the departure of two of its high-profile executives - iOS chief Scott Forstall; and retail head John Browett -, analysts feel that the top-management shakeup at the company is an indication that CEO Tim Cook is fully `in charge' of the proceedings at Apple.

In the opinion of some analysts, while Cook has exhibited the same kind of leadership which Apple's iconic CEO - the late Steve Jobs - was often associated with, the ouster of Forstall and Browett also hinted at an increased bitterness among the top Apple executives.

With the departure of Forstall and Browett coming close to the holiday season, Gartner analyst Michael Gartenberg said that organizational changes are common when a new CEO is at the helm; and added that with the recent management shakeup Apple has "made it clear that Cook is in charge."

Meanwhile, drawing a parallel between the post-Jobs era at Apple and the abdication of a king, Vivek Wadhwa - Singularity University's VP of academics and innovation - said: "When the king abdicates, there is a scramble for power among others."

Further adding that such a situation is common to all companies when it comes to new headship, Wadhwa said that what was more important than the leadership issue at Apple was the company's roadmap for innovation; and pointed out that the latest devices being released by Apple are mostly "products with incremental features"!
