Anil Kapoor says ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ is what the world needs
Washington, February 16 : Anil Kapoor has said that the gigantic success of `Slumdog Millionaire' owes itself to the recession hit people's preferences for "happy endings and that''s what the world needs".
The Bollywood veteran revealed that Danny Boyle's multiple Golden Globes- and Baftas-winning film would not have been the same had it lacked Simon Beaufoy''s "absolutely phenomenal script".
"It''s the story of an underdog, a great love story - it''s like a combination of Rocky meeting Gone With the Wind or Titanic!" Contactmusic quoted him as telling inthenews. co. uk.
"The best part of the love story is that it has a happy ending and that''s what the world needs.
"There''s recession and depression and suddenly a film comes along that is very gritty and real but still has a happy ending," he added.
The film is up for 10 Oscar nominations at the Academy Awards ceremony on February 22. (ANI)
