Amy Winehouse to take up nursing in St Lucia

London, Jun 9 : Troubled Brit singer Amy Winehouse is said to be interested in taking up nursing while in St Lucia, and in devoting her time to sick children and maternity clinics.

Winehouse, 25, will be working as a volunteer on the Caribbean island in a bid to control her own demons and comfort the seriously ill, and she will be delivering medicine and preparing meals for the sick.

“Amy is keen to look after children on the island through these community projects,” the Daily Star quoted Wino’s spokesman as saying.

The singer was inspired to help the children after her estranged husband Blake Fielder-Civil, 27, got another woman pregnant.

“I couldn’t have given him kids. And anyway, I want black kids, not white kids,” she had said after hearing the news.

Her spokesman said that she was not hinting that she would adopt a St Lucian tot, but was expressing a desire to care for them through schemes like African Impact.

“Amy was talking about adopting in the context of looking after children on the island,” he said.

Winehouse also leapt at the chance of helping out the charity’s Medical Assistance project on the island.

“Amy has always been very giving and she has fallen in love with the St Lucians,” a source said.

“She just wants to do everything she can to make them happier and healthier,” the source added. (ANI)
