Amsterdam  - "Nothing is holy, except the love between two people" - that's the motto adopted by gay and lesbian groups to celebrate Amsterdam's first Pink Christmas this year.

The event which runs until December 28 in Amsterdam's gay district, near the city's famous canal belt, will include a Christmas market, a skating rink and several cultural events including a nativity scene, said the organizing group ProGay.

The group promises to turn Pink Christmas into an event that will expand into "an annual, attractive winter event," said ProGay Chairman Frank van Dalen. (dpa)
