America’s Top 50 Bed Buggiest Cities: Chicago at the Top, St. Louis ranks 40
Not good news for residents of St. Louis: The city in Missouri has made an entry in the list of Top 50 Bed Buggiest cities. The list by Orkin Pest Control shows the area is getting worse in case of bed bug.
Chicago maintained its four-year long bed bug legacy and topped the list once again. St. Louis, which was at number 46 last year, has jumped to number 40 in the list. Midwest’s fourteen cities are in the list, including Champaign, Springfield and Decatur. Illinois is at number 42, while Kansas City is down with three numbers and settled at 44.
The Top 50 Bed Buggiest cities list is based on service calls by pest control company Orkin and includes residential and commercial treatments. As per the list, California’s Sacramento city had less bed buggier last year. The city is among those three US cities whose bed bug treatments have dropped significantly in one year. Ohio’s Dayton and Louisville in Kentucky are the other two cities.
According to Orkin, the annual list is a made after considering a number of bed bug treatments provided in 2015. The list suggested that the Sacramento-Stockton-Modesto area has improved drastically. Last year, the area was at 27 spot, while this year, it ranked 45 in the list.
There are seven US cities, including Sacramento, whose numbers of bed bug treatments have increased to double digits. Orkin also said that bed bugs is not a result of uncleanliness and can also be in upscale homes and hotels.
“Bed bugs are the great hitchhiker of the bug world, and they are very difficult to control without professional help. Bed bugs can travel in luggage and other personal belongings to enter your home”, said Orkin Entomologist and Technical Services Director Dr. Ron Harrison.
