Harare, Johannesburg - The two factions of Zimbabwe's opposition party Movement for Democratic Change have agreed to form a united position in the country's parliament, MDC leader Morgan Tsvangirai said Monday.

Speaking in Johannesburg, Tsvangirai said "(President Robert Mugabe's) ZANU-PF has the minority seats in parliament now, so it is now the opposition."

The MDC leader, who also contested the country's presidency, also warned of continuing violence in Zimbabwe, where Mugabe's supporters have repeatedly attacked opposition supporters.

Tsvangirai insists that he won the March 29 presidential election outright, a claim that Zanu-PF rejects, saying neither he nor Mugabe won a majority and that a runoff is required. (dpa)
