Youth Should Possess Scientific Mindset: ISRO Chief
ISRO Chief, G Madhavan Nair said that though the country has achieved a lot in the field of atomic energy and space programmes, but the time has come to develop other fields also.
While speaking at a function, Nair said that since 70 per cent of our population lives in the rural areas (villages), therefore it becomes very important to promote satellite connectivity to these areas.
"We have achieved a lot in space.... but our concern is about our villages, where over70 per cent of our population lives," said the ISRO Chief.
He said that in India, the towns have been modernized with new facilities, while the villages still remained undeveloped, due to which the migration from rural to urban areas have increased.
Thus, the youth of the country should come forward to study the problems of the rural areas by using available satellite connectivity and remote sensing application.
“Our technical expertise should now throw focus on training youth to develop villages faster so that our country could develop rapidly,'' said Nair.
In order to help the general public, ISRO is now engaged for the development of tele-medicine and tele-education.
