Yeddyurappa for zero tolerance on corruption
New Delhi, June 2 : Karnataka Chief Minister B. S. Yeddyurappa has declared that there will be zero tolerance against corruption and all out efforts will be made to ensure the effective and transparent functioning of his administration.
Addressing a press conference here, he said he needed the support of all political parties and leaders in building a strong and vibrant Karnataka.
Listing the priorities of his Government, Yeddyurappa said development would be his main agenda and he would always be guided by the Gandhian philosophy of focussing on the welfare of the poorest of the poor.
Yeddyurappa stated that his party has been supported by all sections of society. He said that his government has resolved to increase the income limit of those below the poverty line from Rs 11,800 to Rs 30,000.
Referring to the water dispute, he said the government would come to a conclusion only after an all-party meeting was held on the issue.
The development of infrastructure, the enhancement of power generation, and the adoption of Gujarat model were the other priorities of his government, he said. In reply to a question, the Karnataka Chief Minister said that the issue of dissidence within the party has been resolved and the remaining irritants would be removed in consultation with the party high command.
Yeddyurappa was sworn-in as the Chief Minister of Karnataka on May 30. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 110 seats out of 224 in the assembly and fell short by three numbers for simple majority .It claims to have support of some independents.
Portfolios are to be allocated to all 29 Ministers on June 6, after the BJP Government passes the floor test.(ANI)
