Yahoo has now been left behind by Facebook

Yahoo has now been left behind by FacebookSocial networking giant Facebook has finally managed to overthrow Yahoo which has now become the second most popular website in the United States by New data released earlier today by web analytics firm Compete. com reveals that there has been a major shift at the top of the web charts.

Yahoo, which earlier held the number one spot till 2008 was first overrun by Google and now after two years by Facebook. Facebook's figure touched a whooping 133 million & has just celebrated its 400 millionth user while Yahoo had only 132 million unique visitors' users in January 2010. It would be interesting to see how close Face book actually manages to get to Google. As of now, Google sits on a comfortable lead but then in the changing world of Internet, things are quite unpredictable.

With the growing threat of twitter just 21.79 million unique visitors, Facebook has now to counter it because Twitter is growing too fast for anyone's comfort. Facebook has emerged as victorious in the "time spent" column while Twitter may be second in terms of the number of unique visitors.

American users spend almost 11.6% of their online time on Facebook which is way ahead of Yahoo's 4.25% or Google's 4.1% which is because of the social nature of Facebook that warrants a longer stay to its users. Only entity that could challenge Facebook in this department soon is going to be Twitter which is growing very rapidly worldwide. Facebook has shown no signs of stopping its spectacular rise.
