William Balfour Involved In Hudson Murders
According to Chicago Tribune sources, William Balfour, the only individual identified as a 'person of interest' in the double slaying of Jennifer Hudson's mother and brother, allegedly confessed his involvement to a current girlfriend.
However, Balfour's girlfriend told police, he played no role in the death of Hudson's nephew, seven year old Julian King, son of Jennifer's sister Julia and Balfour's estranged wife. King, who also went missing the same time as the shootings took place, was later discovered shot dead in an SUV found on the South Side of Chicago.
Talking to the Tribune, law enforcement officials report Balfour stated he was present at the home of the Hudsons', on the morning the murders took place. On parole since his release from prison in 2006 for a 1999 attempted murder conviction, Balfour was taken into police custody at 6.00 p. m. on the day of the murders. Though, no charges have been laid against him as yet, Balfour is back in prison for parole violation after a 48-hours holding period.
Missing his meeting with his parole officer on the day of the murders, he excused himself saying he was 'babysitting on the West Side'. When arrested at his pregnant girlfriend's apartment, he declined to answer questions including the taking of a lie-detector test.
It remains to be seen whether Balfour will be released or held back on charges of involvement in the murder.
