Warsaw to open museum of communism
Warsaw - City officials announced plans to open a Museum of Communism in the capital that would recount the Polish struggle against Soviet oppression, said the daily Rzeczpospolita on Wednesday.
The grand opening is slated for 2010 to mark the 20th anniversary of the fall of communism in Poland, city officials said during a meeting with Warsaw's mayor.
The exhibit will be housed in Warsaw's Palace of Culture and Science, a Stalin-era tower that still dominates the capitol's skyline.
Former president and Solidarity leader Lech Walesa took part in talks on the museum during a conference about remembering communism at the palace on Wednesday. (dpa)
