VVIPS using too much LPG, portalAccording to a new transparency portal, VVIP's in the country including politicians and industrialists are using up too much subsidised cooking gas (LPG).

The transparency portal launched today by state-owned oil firms revealed shocking figured about consumption rates of VVIPs in the country. It was found that the official residence of Vice President Hamid Ansari in the national capital consumed a total of 171 subsidised LPG cylinders in the year till May 2012.

Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur's residence used up 161 cylinders, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna used 83 cylinder, BJP leader Rajnath Singh consumed 80 cylinders and former Union minister M S Gill consumed 79 cylinders during that time. Among the industrialists, Naveen Jindal's residence in Delhi received 369 cylinders through two connections.

Oil Minister S Jaipal Reddy has launched the portal to allow people to check their booking status and also to notice if someone is bypassing the ques. As per the rules, the general public is not allowed to book a cylinder within 21 days of delivery of a cylinder.

Apart from history of refills ordered and delivered to consumers, users will also be able to check a list of high users in the country on the portal.
