Violent clashes at opposition protests in Nicaragua Managua, Nicaragua  - Numerous injuries were reported Saturday in Managua and the provincial cities of Leon and Chinandega amid violent clashes between opposition demonstrators and supporters of Nicaragua's left-wing government.

Marches were organized in at least nine cities against "hunger and dictatorship."

Elected Sandinista President Daniel Ortega mobilized his supporters against the marchers, who were pelted with stones. (dpa)
