Vidya Balan In A Challenging Role In ‘Ishqiya’
Parineeta gal Vidya Balan will be seen in a new character in her upcoming flick 'Ishqiya.'
'Ishqiya' is a movie that's a love triangle between Krishna (played by Vidya Balan) a village girl and an uncle-nephew (played respectively by Naseeruddin Shah and Arshad Warsi). She makes Naseeruddin and Arshad dance to her tune.
The key role of Krishna is in full contrast with any of the characters the actress has played previously.
Miss Balan is very excited about her character in the dark drama which is due to release this Friday.
"When it comes to cinema, time and again women are seen and heard in a certain manner. Also, they are not necessarily shown to be their own self and are instead driven by people around her," Vidya said.
"However, in the case of 'Ishqiya', the portrayal of women is entirely different. That's because Krishna (her character) is a woman who is 'direct dil se'," the actress added.
"2009 ended on a positive note for me with 'Paa' turning out to be such a good commercial success while also gaining immense critical acclaim. Now in the case of 'Ishqiya', I genuinely hope that people like the film."
Produced by Vishal Bharadwaj and directed by Abhishek Chaubhey, 'Ishqiya' is set in a UP village.
