Veteran cricketers slams England's ODI approach as 'old fashioned'

Alastair-CookLondon, Sep 3 : England served up one of their worst ever one day performances, facing a nine-wicket defeat against India.

As captain, Alastair Cook is the lightning rod for the abject failure that is going on around him and after overseeing an utter shambles of a performance at Edgbaston, his position is even weaker.

However England's loss to India to complete a series defeat was so bad that it is no longer a question of personnel that needs changing - it is a complete overhaul of their attitude and approach, the Mirror reported.

Graeme Swann, not long retired, put it simply that it is boring and embarrassing cricket. England hasn't caught up with the rest of the world. It is so outdated, outmoded and old fashioned and the whole strategy and outlook must change.

He said that if the England management, captain and selectors cannot see there is a burning issue that needs to be changed, then I am worried, angry and sad.

Former skipper Alec Stewart agreed and said that the current team is playing one day cricket as if it is still 1995. They need a change of mindset, game plan and culture. (ANI)
