Verdict Out On Hannah Foster Case

Verdict Out On Hannah Foster CaseFinally a verdict has been passed in Hannah Foster case. Ex-van driver Maninder Pal Singh Kohli was found guilty of the rape and murder of 17-year-old student Foster, and sentenced to life imprisonment.

The incident had happened in 2003 when Indian national Maninderpal Singh Kohli raped and murdered Hannah Foster, 14 March 2003, in the city of Southampton and then fled to India. Two days later Hannah's body was found strangled and lying in a ditch by the side of a road, a short distance from her home.

Hannah had spent the evening out and was walking back home when she was kidnapped by Kohli. Hannah dialed the emergency services number hoping to get some help, but the call was disconnected when she did not speak. Two days after the body was recovered, Kohli panicked and fled from Britain.

He took a flight for India, headed to Chandigarh. But his semen was recovered from Hannah's body and a nationwide television appeal drew attention of his colleague, who rang police. Next year, Hannah's parents Hillary and Trevor Foster, along with Hampshire police, visited India and carried out media campaign, in which they also announced a 70,000 pounds award. Within a few days, Kohli , living under the name of Mike Davies, was spotted and extradited to Britain in July 2007.
