Los Angeles - High School Musical star Vanessa Hudgens has auditioned for the part of a female werewolf in New Moon, the sequel to the smash hit teen movie Twilight.

That's according to MTV which quoted Ashley Greene, an actress in the first installment of the vampire romance series movie, as saying that Hudgens is vying for the role of vampire Leah Clearwater.

"I think she'd be great," said Greene, who also had some news on the status of New Moon's script.

"I hear they're doing another rewrite," the actress said. "I'm with you guys - I'm so excited to read it." (dpa)
