New Delhi, Jan 30 : Former National Security Advisor Brajesh Mishra has said the United States should deny Pakistan all military aid till it fully co-operates with the international community in controlling the Taliban presence in Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Speaking at a seminar on ''Future directions of US Relations with India and the region'' organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry and The Asia Foundation, a US think tank here on Thursday, Mishra said that the denial of economic support to the Pakistan military is the key to America''s success in Afghanistan.

"This aid to the armed forces must be denied until the Pakistan''s armed forces are ready to cooperate fully with the United States and other countries which are fighting in Afghanistan," he added.

Former US Assistant Secretary of State for South Asia, Karl Inderfurth called for greater cooperation with India to bring stability to Afghanistan and South Asia.

"In both countries (Pakistan and Afghanistan), things getting worse with implications that certainly affect the neighbourhood but also spread beyond. So, we need to work on this together. There are other parts of the neighbourhood that India and Unites States can collaborate, on including what is taking place in Nepal and Bangladesh," said Inderfurth.

India and United States are at their closest in the recent years and analysts expect them to remain friends, whereas insecurity in South Asia, from Afghanistan to Mumbai, has unearthed bones of contention.
