Unani Medical College To Be Set Up In Valley: Azad
With a main purpose of encouraging traditional modes of treatment in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Ghulam Nabi Azad said that a state-of-the-art Unani Medical College would be set up in the valley.
While inaugurating a four-day national exhibition-cum-sale of herbal medicines in Srinagar, Azad said: “A state-of-the-art Unani medical college will be set up in Kashmir.”
The former J&K chief minister also added that there is a vital need to concentrate on the promotion of traditional modes of treatment like Ayurveda, Unani, Sidha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH) as
60 per cent of the population in India uses Ayurvedic medicines.
The Union Minister also revealed that within a period of two months, the vaccine of H1N1 will be available in the country. “We will be having the vaccine for influenza in our country in next two months,” said Azad.
Apart from Azad, J&K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand also visited the exhibition.
