‘Ugly Betty’ to help Hillary Clinton repay presidential campaign debt
New York, December 5 : ‘Ugly Betty’ star America Ferrera is helping Democrat Hillary Clinton in her efforts to dispose of millions of dollars in debt leftover from the latter’s failed White House bid.
Clinton''s finance team are said to have told their supporters through an e-mail that the actress will be hosting a "conversation" in "support of Hillary Clinton for President Debt Relief".
The show will be spiced up with the presence of Hillary’s husband, former U. S. President Bill Clinton, who will chat up with Clinton diehards at the Manhattan Center on December 15.
Media reports suggest that Hillary owes vendors from the campaign about 7.5million dollars, and has had a tough time raising cash to pay them back. Her former pollster and top adviser Mark Penn is awaiting 5.3million dollars.
Hillary’s supporter believe that it is necessary to address the problem lest people should consider her unseemly at best after she becomes U. S. Secretary of State.
"That would present some bad optics," the New York Daily News quoted Ken Gross, an election law expert at Skadden Arps, as saying.
The newspaper also said that President-elect Barack Obama did not have any cash flow problems.
Federal records show that Obama got 30million dollars left in the bank after whipping GOPer John McCain last month. (ANI)
