Two Chinese tourists killed as crane falls on tour bus
Taipei - At least two Chinese tourists were killed and four others injured Friday in Taipei when a crane from 37th floor of a building construction site fell on their tour bus, the city mayor said.
"The accident occurred when the tour bus with 25 passengers from the Chinese province of Guangdong drove near the construction site," said Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin.
He said the arm of the crane fell from the 37th floor of the building, hitting the back part of the bus, killing a male tourist instantly, and injuring five others. Another man later died in hospital, he said.
"We will do all we can to look after the injured and demand compensation for the victims from the building contractor," he said.
The group arrived in Taiwan on Monday for a six-day visit and was scheduled to leave Saturday, tourism officials said. (dpa)
