Toyota to recall 5,202 cars in China
After major recall sessions in United States, Toyota will have to recall 5,202 imported cars in China. Chinese quality department asked company to rectify the issue. Otherwise, Toyota previously claimed its car in question, Lexus, has no technical defects.
On Thursday, a spokesperson of Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) asked company for an explanation for problems with imported cars Lexus. Its notice to Toyota said," make a full explanation and provide detailed technical descriptions".
A day after this notice, Japanese Automaker Toyota announced its recall plans of cars in China. All imported 5,202 Lexus RX300/350 cars, manufactured between February 2003 and July 2006 will be recalled. This recall operation will start from March, 23, according to the company.
Chinese AQSIQ was reported about wrong placement of floor carpet around accelerator pedal. This is hazardous; according to experts as accelerator pedal may not work proper because of interference of two. Pedal may remain in pressed position instead of coming back to normal position.
Company recently recalled more than 4 million cars from United State and European markets because of same issue. Company said cars from China were not recalled because problematic cars were not sold in China. Toyota has seen hefty profit in Chinese market in recent years.
