Topps files Q2 falling sales
Topps Tiles has registered a second quarter fall in sales figures. The British retailer said that the fall in consumer confidence is the reason behind this decrease.
The confidence has dropped this season, particularly because the General Elections are closing in. And looking at the economic conditions, people are expecting a raise in tax-rates and further job cuts. Because of this, they are spending less.
Elections are going to take place on May 6 in UK.
Talking to a private news agency, Reuters, Matt Williams, Chief Executive of the company said that the situation around the elections remain the same. He further said that the seller of tiles and wood flooring is not expecting much from the government either.
Matt's words are no different from the others in the industry who are facing the same fate. Carpetright, the largest floor covering company of Britain has already issued a warning saying that the profit of the company is not going to see much.
A survey done by GfK NOP has shown that the consumer confidence in Britain has gone down in March. This has happened because they are worried about the economic outlook.
