Tony Parker scores career-high 55 points as Spurs top T-Wolves

Los Angeles - Frenchman Tony Parker was unstoppable, and the San Antonio Spurs are no longer win-less.

Parker poured in a career-high 55 points, and the visiting Spurs outlasted the Minnesota Timberwolves 129-125 in double overtime on Wednesday night.

At 0-3, the four-time NBA Champion Spurs were off to their worst start since the 1973-74 campaign when they played in the old ABA. However, Parker put an end to that, hitting 22-of-36 field goals, mostly on a mixture of layups and soft jumpers.

"I just wanted to win so bad, I was going to try to do everything I can," said Parker, who shattered his previous high of 38 points set in January 2006 at Miami. "Obviously, everybody knows if I make my jump shots, I can do whatever I want. Tonight was just one of those games that everything was working."

Parker buried one of those jumpers - a 20-footer to beat the first overtime buzzer - that forced a second extra session knotted at 116.

The speedy guard added nine more points in the next five-minute frame, including three free throws in the final 19 seconds, breaking the all-time individual scoring mark against the T-Wolves of 53 set in 1994 by Shaquille O'Neal, then of the Orlando Magic.

Tim Duncan had 30 points with 15 rebounds for the Spurs while Roger Mason added 26 points.

"Tony was unbelievable," Duncan said. "It was just an unbelievable effort."

Al Jefferson topped the Timberwolves (1-3) with 30 point and 14 rebounds while Mike Miller added 25 points.

"It took Tony making every shot for them to win, tonight," Miller said. "We've got to figure out what we've got to do to win games."
