Thirteen killed, six others injured in US drone strike in North Waziristan
Peshawar, Apr. 4: At least thirteen persons were reportedly killed and six others injured in a suspected US drone strike in Datakhel area of Northern Waziristan on Saturday, The Dawn reported.
According to sources, missiles hit a house of a local tribesman in the region killing several people on the spot, including some foreign militants.
“We have information that 13 people were killed including some guests,” an intelligence agency official said.
Officials said that some women and children may also have been killed in the attack.
Earlier, on Wednesday, twelve suspected terrorists were killed in similar drone strike in the Orakzai Agency of the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA).
In similar strike, on March 25, seven foreign militants were killed in South Waziristan.
The attack targeted a house of a man named Haji Dost Muhammad in Makeen area near Razmak, 12 kilometer North West of Ladha.
Approximately 300 people have been killed in at least 30 US drone strikes since August 2008, which Islamabad has repeatedly termed ‘counterproductive’ in the ‘War on Terror’.
Despite Pakistan’s continuous demand to halt such missiles hits inside its territory, the United States has made it clear that it would continue its operation on militant hideouts and terror camps in the tribal region along the ungoverned Pakistan-Afghanistan border. (ANI)
