Thailand uses Made in Thailand scheme to lure lovers
Taipei - Thailand is luring lovers with a Made in Thailand (MIT) tourist tag that encourages them to conceive a baby while on holiday.
The Thailand Authority of Tourism (TAT) on Friday launched the MIT project to encourage Taiwan couples to go on sightseeing trips and conceive a baby in Thailand.
Under the programme, from now until October 31, if Taiwan couples visit Thailand and the wife conceives there, they have the chance of winning three free return flight tickets.
The couple must prove to TAT - with hospital papers and travel documents - that the wife became pregnant while the couple were vacationing in Thailand.
TAT's Taipei office will select 50 couples who succeed in conceiving a baby while on vacation in Thailand.
TAT's Taipei office has posted the MIT promotion event on its website, and held a news conference in Kaohsiung, south Taiwan, Friday to encourage Taiwanese to participate in the MIT programme. dpa
