Tevez denies refusing to play against Bayern in Champions League

Tevez denies refusing to play against Bayern in Champions LeagueLondon, Sep 28 : Former Manchester City skipper Carlos Tevez has denied refusing to play against Bayern Munich in last night's Champions League defeat

City boss Roberto Mancini got furious after Tevez refused to play against Bayern Munich, and wants him "out of the club".

Mancini wanted to bring on substitute Tevez with 35 minutes left in an attempt to come back in the game, but the Argentinean refused to play.

"If I have my way he will be out. He's finished with me. If we want to improve as a team Carlos can't play with us. With me, he is finished," Mancini said.

But Tevez this morning claimed in a statement that he did not refuse to play, and also said he was ready to fulfill his obligations to the club.

Tevez said: "I would like to apologise to all Manchester City fans, with whom I have always had a strong relationship, for any misunderstanding that occurred in Munich. They understand that when I am on the pitch I have always given my best for the club.

"In Munich on Tuesday I had warmed up and was ready to play. This is not the right time to get into specific details as to why this did not happen. But I wish to state that I never refused to play," he said. (ANI)
