Virgin Mobile's youth clients can access to world's major social networking site by simply click on the MySpace link on vBytes and log in the user ID and password. There will be a daily charge of just Rs 5 for accessing vBytes.

Prism Cement's Q2 net declines 52%

Prism Cement's Q2 net declines 52%Prism Cement, a leading cement manufacturer, has announced that its second quarter net profit has plummeted by 52 percent ato Rs 31.03 crore from the same quarter last fiscal.

In a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange, the company said that it had registered a net profit of Rs 64.45 crore in the same quarter Financial Year 2008.

Net sales of the company slumps declined to Rs 214.79 crore in the quarter under review, versus Rs 228.11 crore in the same period a year ago.

According to sources, the company has pumped the said amount in order to fund the operations of its Indian non-banking finance company (NBFC) in India. With the fresh funds, the total capital of Credit Suisse Finance (India) now stands at Rs 827 crore.

Maytas Infra receives Rs 110 crore project from Southern Railways  Hyderabad-based Maytas Infra Private Limited (MIPL), has announced that it has secured a project worth Rs 110 crore from the Southern Railways.

The company has received the said project in consortium with Chennai-based CT Ramanathan and Co. According to sources, the project has been awarded for doubling broad railway track between Chengalpattu and Villupuram in Tamil Nadu.

Famous music composer A. R. Rahman turns 43    India’s renowned singer-music composer AR Rahman turned 43 on January 6, 2009.

Rahman, who ihas beenalso honored by the title ’Mozart of Madras’, was born as A. S. Dileep Kumar on January 6, 1966 in Chennai.

His birth name A. S. Dileep Kumar was turned to Allah Rakkha Rahman (AR Rahman) when his family in 1970 adoptsed Islamic religion.

Thise young land Rahman started his career in 1992, when he was approached by film director Mani Ratnam to compose the music for Ratnam’s Tamil flick Roja .
