New Delhi, Dec 27 : External Affairs Minister Pranab Mukherjee has asked Pakistan to stop creating a war hysteria and take immediate action against those involved in the recent Mumbai attacks.

Talking to reporters here on Friday, he said that New Delhi expects Islamabad to deal with the menace that has become a threat to the regional peace and stability.

New Delhi, Dec 26 : India today termed Pakistan''s claim of arresting an Indian national in connection with the Lahore blasts on Wednesday, as mere hogwash which mean to confuse people.

In the backdrop of the Mumbai terror attacks and growing international pressure on Pakistan to arrest the perpetrators of the Mumbai carnage, Islamabad had claimed to arrest an Indian national Satish Anand Shukla, a move however denied by Lahore police officials.

New Delhi, Dec. 26 : A Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team has started the process of recording evidence of Jasbir Singh, a witness of 1984 anti-Sikh riots case involving the then parliamentarian Jagdish Tytler.

The testimony of Jasbir Singh started 11.30 a. m (U. S time) on Thursday and lasted till 5.00 p. m on Christmas Day at GADAR Memorial, San Francisco, CA. The testimony will continue on Friday.

The two-member CBI team, which is visiting the U. S, recorded the statement of Jasbir Singh for four hours in San Francico. The testimony, however, was scheduled to resume on December 26.

New Delhi, Dec 26 : The Union Cabinet today gave its approval to the scheme of repair, renovation and restoration of wide variety of water bodies all over the country with an approximate cost of Rs. 6,000 crore during XI Plan period.

The scheme will cover about 23000 water bodies across the country with a culturable command area of 16.8 lakh hectares. When completed, the project will create an additional irrigation potential of 7.5 lakh hectares.

New Delhi, Dec 26 : Indonesia commemorated the fourth anniversary of the tsunami that devastated the coastal areas of Indian Ocean on December 24, 2004, and killed over 230,000 people, with 170,000 of them in Aceh province.

According to head of the provincial development agency Rahman Lubis, the commemoration took place in Meulaboh town at the west coast of the province in the northern tip of Sumatra island, which was hit the hardest during the tsunami triggered by a strong quake in December 2004.
