It was decided at the meeting that all vessels would be registered under a uniform coastal security system.

The plan will help to address pressing concerns about climate change, besides ensuring energy security, Saran said.

States Ministers to meet today to discuss women and child related issues

New Delhi, Feb 28 : The Ministry of Women and Child Development is organising a Conference of State Ministers in charge of women and child development here today.

The conference will be chaired by. Renuka Chowdhury, MOS (WCD).

The representatives of the National Commission for Women, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, the National Institute for Public Cooperation and Child Development, the Central Social Welfare Board and the Central Adoption Resource Agency and the Rashtriya Mahila Kosh will also attend the conference.

Renuka Chowdhury sacks NCW member over Mangalore assault probeNew Delhi, Feb 27 : Union Minister for Women and Child Development Renuka Chowdhury on Friday sacked National Commission for Women (NCW) member Nirmala Vankatesh, saying her conduct was detrimental to public interest.

"Vankatesh was sent to Mangalore to probe the assault on women in a pub by the Hindu outfit Sri Rama Sene, but she went public and acted in a way which was detrimental to public interest," a notification issued to NCW member said.
